10 Tips for a Feasible Schedule. #10Tips10Days on LinkedIn

How's your day going? If you're having a great day, it's likely because you at least feel energized, focused and in flow. Right? If not, how do you feel? It matters. You get more done when you feel great. Self care - food, water, sleep, exercise and time for mindfulness - sets the stage for a great day everyday (seriously!), but that only works if you create the time and space in your schedule for it.

Ordinarily, I stop at 3-5 points in blogs, talks or presentations I give. It is said that we recall things in sets of 3. Here's inviting you to remember these in sets of 3. Even if you forget one, you'll still be in a better place with your schedule. 😉

10 Tips for a Feasible Schedule

Here are 10 practical tips for creating a feasible schedule; one that gives you time for what matters.

1. What energizes you?

Start by looking within. We're focused on work in this series so, apart from having meals, drinking water, sleeping, exercising and your own mindfulness practice, what activities energize you? For simplicity, look at your top three (3). www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6419651907245076480

2. When do your top energizing activities 'feel' best?

Being true to your own energy rhythms, when do you have the energy to do those top three (3) tasks? Note: don't try to fit into any boxes you've heard of. Great if you're a morning person, but if you're a night owl, honour that. If you need a week, own that. www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6419905933626867712

3. Other obligations. What's on your mind?

There are things we believe we have to get done. Often, those are the things that drain our energy... maybe more so when we're not doing them, because we feel we should. Let's address those. www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6420277585598509056

4. Buffers

Most of us know this one but, even when we think of creating buffers, we don't leave enough time. Here's some food for thought.  www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6420705172682473472

5. Planning and project management.

Ah. The fun part. Okay. Maybe just for me. Quick and long-term activities. Here's how planning (okay, having a plan) actually alleviates stress.  www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6421056508544454656

6. Calendar vs to do list

What works for you in a truly practical sense? If you treat your items as you would client time, would this work? www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6422101283267706880

7. e-Mails

Yes, this gets its own tip. Don't let emails set your priority. Check them later. www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6422610466689818624

8. Virtual connections and coffee dates

At first, this will be tough. Bobby Umar's big heart made him feel guilty about being unable to watch every single video in this #10Tips10Days series, but I think any true human would be able to forgive him. Looking at your 24/7 across 365 days, and accepting that time never comes back, who should get your energy and how?  www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6423003486748704768

9. Warren Buffett's Empty Schedule

Perhaps solidifying point number 8, is Warren Buffett's principle on empty schedules. He essentially states that the most productive people have empty schedules. I'd add that this works if you're in flow - which a feasible schedule gives you. Click the link for the link to the article.  www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6423350879474184192

10. Focus. Lost in Flow

All of the earlier tips were meant to eliminate those things at the back of your mind, to create untouchable, focused time and space to get those energizing or priority activities done. Now you can get lost in flow.  www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6423658913505251328

About #10Tips10Days on LinkedIn

This is a part of the #10Tips10Days series (challenge) on LinkedIn started by Bobby Umar, Kira Day, Lila Smith and Jake Jordan. I was invited by Yulia Urukova Martins to join in. Thanks, Yulia! Here's a quick synopsis (click here) by the original team on the traction, motivation, lessons and empowerment coming out of this initiative. What do you have to offer the world? Will you take the challenge? I had to let go of perfectionism around videos, especially doing this with a baby in one arm. Share your ten tips! Cheers.
