Global inspiration for your personal feasible schedule

Welcome to 4-day work weeks, 6-hour workdays!

In the technical business sense, I'm all about streamlining, trimming the excess and staying focused, so we don't lose energy.  It's why I'm such a fan of Pareto's 80/20 principle i.e. focus on the 20% that give you the 80% return - that includes activities, decisions and people.  In business, we tend to think of that 80% return in terms of earnings or results, but I'd like to invite you to consider adding love, energy and respect.  So, taking this beyond just the traditional business lens to a holistic, mindful, business lens.

As I focus on inspired creativity this year, which translates to focused productivity, in business, I want to be very careful to help you stay in a space of taking action only out of ease, flow and desire.  It is in this state that you are most energized, yet clear - unhustled and confidently decisive.

Enter your very own feasible schedule.  We're all human, so there are elements we all share, but the schedule that works for you, while it will overlap with that of your ideal clients, will not be like anyone else's.  Your current habits, needs and cycles, are unlike anyone else's.  What's yours?

This one fell into my lap for you!  Entrepreneur, mompreneur or corporate.

Good news, professionals in the corporate space

I've written about this before, but if the world was actually onboard, working less and earning more would be seamless.  I am in full support of Finnish Prime MInister Sanna Marin, as she embarks on implementing the 4-day work week and 6-hour workday in Finland.  As with anything else, if you look for it, you'll find all the reasons it can't work and why it's not sustainable for business.

If you're shifting to a more positive mindset, this year, this could be a good place to start.  In business, what are some creative ways that this can enhance, rather than detract from, profits, salaries and share value?  I was thrilled to see that there are even companies dedicated to building this into organizations globally - meet 4 Day Week - GlobalHere's the conversation that allowed me to find them. Here, if you'd like to chat more about this.

As a professional within a corporation, should this come to your country, does this spark some hope?  At work, you can focus on getting work done at work, instead of the optics around "being there" for eight hours or "looking busy at all times"?  I'd love to hear what sense of possibility arises!

Encouragement for entrepreneur professionals

I know you still struggle with the whole industry not so subtly thinking that wanting ease and flow is lazy, but I hope to provide you with a lot more encouragement around that this year.  If it helps, consider that one of the greatest minds of our time, Warren Buffett, encourages empty schedules - less to work all the time, but to also have free time to just let our minds wonder.  Why?  Free time, space, slowing down, mindfulness in general, leaves room for ideas and solutions to emerge!

"“You know, I had every minute packed and I thought that was the only way you could do things,” says Gates. But, he says, Buffett taught him the importance of giving yourself time to think."

That is why slowing down sparks actual creativity and focused productivity - both of which, of course, are likely to be fast-paced.  The ask is not that your schedule slow you down so that you lose momentum; just that you slow down enough to get back to your core truths, to regain your footing within your own values and vision.

I also have to share Ayelet Baron’s moving dose of inspiration, encouraging you to go within to hear your own voice, so that you’re truly confident when you’re in the world. Here’s her LinkedIn post.

So, what's your truly feasible schedule?

I hope you're inspired to honour your energy needs, as you learn that it's the most sustainable way to have optimal results, in all areas of your life.
